This week we catch up with Cowana Gaming & Challenger League Champion, Sloth!

For those who might not know you, can you introduce just who is Sloth?

My name is Jake Brown and I'm a 20-year-old lad from Near Birmingham in the United Kingdom. I have played siege since the end of Year 2 Season 1 and have played competitive siege since Summer 2018

Last week we saw Cowana take the Challenger League victory and enter the EUL, how did you prepare for such an important match?

We had a very tough and strenuous few months of grinding heavily with very little time off. Since September we have had 4 days off and the rest, we have been working putting in blood, sweat and tears into the game we love. Preparation for the game was in depth and involved a lot of mental practice Aswell with strategy with a lot of help from Davil and Mr Officer when it comes to adaptation and counter strategy work.

How do you keep calm in high pressure situations such as a big final?

One technique we use is a style of breathing to relax your mind and take you out of the situation. We used a breathing technique called box breathing that is used within the military for people to maintain composure. Also, before every game Mr Officer gives us a little prep talk and takes us through a team exercise so that people can calm their nerves.

Can you talk us through your go to operator picks and the role you play in Cowana?

I am the entry fragging monkey king in Cowana, my picks are normally Ash / Zofia on attack and on defence Jager / Mozzie
On attack I play these operators to give me my preferable weapons to entry with and on defence I play these ops so that I have the ability to get an opening pick or death with less consequences for losing utility.

As well as EUL you also compete in the UK Ireland Nationals, do you feel that helped your team better prepare for what was coming when battling in the Challenger League?

I think UKIN allowed us to grow as a team to the point where we were ready.

Confident of taking the UKIN Spring ‘21 champion title?

Yes, nothing more needed. I am fully confident in our ability to be champions and prove we are the best team from the UK.

With a major goal being reached in getting into EUL, what are your goals for the rest of 2021?

We of course are happy about getting into EUL however the real goal is to win EUL this season, this is of course what we are here to try do. On top of this we want to get enough points to qualify for invitational 2022. We also want to be crowned UKIN champs for the current season as we want to prove that we are the best team from the UK.

Create your own team - you are the coach, what 5 players are you picking up? It can be any player Pro or Am across the world.

To be honest I'm not sure, would probably be:
Fabian
CTZN
Virtue
Bosco
Rampy

Any final comments or places for people to follow you?

I want to thank everyone that has supported me and the team through the incredible journey we have been on, we were not meant to be in challenger league this season but with the determination we grinded to put ourselves in a position as a team where we are able to compete on this high of a level.

Also want to thank Cowana Gaming for supporting us on this journey and a special thanks to @ShoXFPS for always being there for us, since joining Cowana he has been waiting on us hand and foot and making sure we are always ok and have what we need.
