If you're a university student during 2021 then we've got some great news about upcoming tournaments!

If you're moving to university this summer or you've been around for a few years we want you all to get involved with NSE (National Student Esports) and The NUEL (National University Esports League)! We're continuing our great partnership with them over the coming year and you can get involved both as a player and through your local esports society!

Name: NSE (National Student Esports)

About the Org: NSE operates the British University Esports Championship powered by Intel, the official esports competition of British universities. In the 20/21 academic year, the competition saw more than 1,700 teams from 100 universities compete across a number of esports titles. 

As the official body of university esports in the UK - through a partnership with British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), NSE has supported the student esports community year-on-year and has become the most active grassroots gaming community in the country.

Tournament dates: Thursday 21st October and then every Thursday through to Thursday 2nd December

The Rainbow Six finals will be held during the British University Esports Championship Live Finals, taking place December 10th - 12th.

Tournament details: The Rainbow Six British University Esports Championship Winter season is split into two main stages: 

  • Stage 1 Qualification (Weeks 1-3) 
  • Stage 2 Swiss/Playoffs (Weeks 4-7) 

When do sign ups close: Tuesday 19th October

Prizes: British University Esports Championship points and £1,000 prize pool

Any extra info: The British University Esports Championship games for Rainbow Six take place every Thursday for eight weeks, starting 21st October. NSE can help you find your university esports society, join the university esports community Discord: https://nse.gg/discord

Name: NUEL

About the Org: NUEL organises some of the biggest student gaming tournaments in the UK, with players of all abilities from over 90 universities taking part regularly throughout the academic year.

Our goal is to help grow student esports and gaming communities. We work closely with gaming societies around the country to organise events and activities for thousands of students. We also work with partners to offer careers support and a range of opportunities from broadcast to tournament administration. If you’re a student interested in esports, we’re here to support you.

Tournament dates:

Registration: Open Now

Regular gamedays: Wednesdays 7:15pm, 20th October to 8th December

(Some additional gamedays for tiebreakers and prize playoffs.)

Final: 15th December

Tournament details:

Format: Swiss League, followed by Playoffs. Format is designed to be both competitive at the top end of the tournament, while also fun and accessible for players of all abilities.

Platform: PC

Team size: 5 (+ subs)

Length: 9 weeks total

Broadcast: Every week two matches broadcast live on official Rainbow Six UK Twitch channel.

Eligibility: Students at verified higher education institutions in the UK and Ireland (further details on eligibility available in rulebook on NUEL site). All players on a team must be from the same university.

When do sign ups close: 18th October

Prizes (5 awarded per team):

1st: £100 Amazon Voucher

2nd: £60 Amazon Voucher

3rd: £40 Amazon Voucher

Top 12 teams qualify into our Spring Varsity tournament, with a total prizing value of £3,750

Interested players should join the NUEL Discord to meet other players, attend captains meetings, receive on-the-night admin support and stay up to date with tournament information/updates.
